Bloomingdale United Church

Our Mission

As a Christian community, we gather to worship and to serve others. We provide support and care to those in our faith community and we reach out practically to help those in need in our village and surrounding communities of Kitchener-Waterloo and Elmira. We reach out to those we know and those we don't know, because we try to live out the gospel in real and tangible ways.

We provide community dinners for those in the Bloomingdale area which we call, Dinner With Friends. We give to the Youth Pantry, we support the outreach ministry in Kitchener, St. John's Kitchen, we buy backpacks for schoolchildren and we reach out to families at Christmastime for those who cannot afford the season of gift-giving. We knit caps for women undergoing chemotherapy, so they can feel some measure of dignity when they experience hair loss from medical treatments.

Our call from God is to love and serve, as Christ loved and served. The adopted mission statement of Bloomingdale United Church is as follows:

God calls us to be a caring and sharing community based Christian ministry.

We commit ourselves to use all our gifts in service and witness to Jesus Christ, strengthened by the Spirit of God. Through this mission, we try to enrich our lives in our homes, our Community and our Church through our actions, and by showing our love to Jesus Christ.
